Amanda and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

My daughter, Abby,  has a book, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day", by Judith Viorst. It is one of my favorite books to read to her, of course she can read it herself now, so I read it to Molly. But basically, if you haven't read it or don't own it for your kids you should. It is about a kid, Alexander, who has a really bad day (bet you figured that part out all on your own, though, didn't you?).

From the time Alexander wakes up he can tell it's going to be one of those days. So he decides he wants to move to Australia. The best part of this book? It isn't all better at the end. Mom doesn't kiss it all away, he doesn't crawl in bed, curl up with his puppy and fall asleep happily. Nope. It is a terrible day from start to finish and Mom says, "Somedays are just like that. Even in Australia."

Well yesterday was one of those days for me.

It happens, even in South Carolina.

Good grief, It's that bad and it's only 8:12 am...

I'm sorry to hear that! I had a similar situation with Dillon. I recited the Humpty Dumpty rhyme to him, and then said "Humpty was an egg who fell off a wall and he broke. His friends couldn't put him back together." And then before I could catch myself I said, "so there's the moral to the story. Sometimes things just suck."

Yeah, some days are just like that. Hopefully not too many though.

It's a great lesson for them to learn - like Angie said, some days just suck.
