The End of a Decade

I am quite happy to see 2009 come to an end. It has not been the greatest of years for me. Obviously, if you've been reading my blog, you know I lost my Dad this year after a 6 month battle with Brain Cancer. But I won't talk about that today.

What a decade it was! Wow, just 10 years ago I was single, a young 25 years old, and very excited to be celebrating one year with my boyfriend (who is now my husband). I remember so clearly the Y2K fears and watching as clocks struck midnight around the world and the amazing fireworks displays.  We had a fantastic hotel room on a top floor of a hotel in downtown Charleston. We watched fireworks displays from West Ashley to downtown to Mt. Pleasant. It was amazing. Little did I know I would be engaged just a mere three months later!

So yes, I got married this decade, May 5, 2001 to be exact. We had three children, our first, Abby, was born in September of 2002, Molly was born in January 2007 and Zach came along in June of 2008. THEN we figured out what was causing all that and my husband got a vasectomy in May of 2008! Yippee!

My family still owned our own business in the start of this decade. We decided to sell our multi generational company after Abby was born. It was the best decision. Since then I have explored a few different careers: I sold wine, I sold eyeglasses and was an optical tech (yep wore scrubs and all), I sold advertising and now I'm selling first aid supplies and safety products/training (CPR, anyone?).

I have lived in 4 different houses however we have been in this one for almost 6 years. It has gotten a bit small over the past six years as well...how do houses shrink like that??

Anyway, it's been quite an eventful decade. Probably the most life changing of my life. I absolutely cannot wait to see what the next decade has in store. I am certain there will be ups and downs but what an excited roller coaster ride it is!

Happy 2010 everyone..may it be prosperous and more wonderful than you could ever imagine.

"Look not mournfully into the past. It comes not back again. Wisely improve the present. It is thine. Go forth to meet the shadowy future, without fear."  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
